Surprising Treats You Didn't Know Were Vegan

"Do you just eat lettuce then?" If your life is anything like mine 🙋🏼‍then you’ve heard this question more than once after telling people you’re vegan‍. So, as both a devoted plant-based eater and a self-proclaimed Oreo connoisseur, I wanted to fill you all in on some of my favourite treats that are surprisingly (and maybe unintentionally) vegan!

The items that I picked for this list are all extremely easy to find at corner stores or supermarkets in even the smallest of towns.

Disclaimer: I know that the products listed below are not healthy, and I definitely do not suggest indulging in them every day but we’re only human and who doesn’t enjoy a treat now and then?

Sour Patch Kids, Fuzzy Peaches, Swedish Berries

I love gummy candy and finding out that so many popular varieties from Maynard’s are vegan makes them taste even sweeter!

I often get called an “old lady” when proclaiming that liquorice is my favorite candy, but I don’t really mind because as long as people keep denying how amazing it is there will be more left in the bag for me.

Does anyone else pour all of their Skittles out so that they can separate them into piles by color? Well go ahead and play with your food because their delicious little treats are vegan!

I don’t think it’s possible for me to accurately describe to you how much I love Oreos. From thins to mega-stuffed, I have never tried a flavour that I didn’t like (even during the weird Swedish Fish flavour phase).

Sweet Chilli Heat Doritos

For a long time I hadn’t even checked the nutritional information on Doritos because I assumed they all had animal bi-products in them. If you’re looking for chips that are a little bit spicy and a little bit sweet, pick these up – you won’t regret it!

Lay’s Potato Chips (most flavours)

There are so many vegan Lay’s flavors like Salt & Vinegar, Dill Pickle, and BBQ! I challenge you to find a flavour that you don’t like! My favorite is kettle cooked – sea salt & cracker pepper!

Ruffles All Dressed

Recently one of my coworkers spotted me eating these chips at my desk and they were shocked to know that they're vegan! Go ahead, try them – guilt free!

All of this junk food talk made me hungry, time for some 🍫🍭
Let me know what your favourite vegan treats are in the comments!
