Q. Where do you reside?
A. Calgary, Alberta, Canada 🇨🇦

Q. How long have you been vegan?
A. I had my first veganniversary in January of 2019!

Q. So what the heck does it mean to be vegan?
A. “Veganism is a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose.” - The Vegan Society

Q. What made you go vegan?
A. In 2017 I randomly stumbled across an article by PETA that showed the horrific reality of animals being tested on in labs for cosmetic purposes. I was heartbroken and wanted nothing to do with it. I vowed to start switching everything I could to cruelty-free alternatives including my makeup, toothpaste, shower essentials, dish soap, etc. I was (and still am) passionate about my decision and it would often get brought up in conversation with friends, family, and coworkers. Several times during these chats I was asked if I was vegan and I was honestly so confused why this was even a question. Then one day I realized that as I was advocating for the unnecessary suffering and cruelty to stop, I was still going home eating the bodies of other animals. I dove into the research and began watching all the crucial Netflix documentaries. When I discovered it wasn’t just inhumane, but bad for your health and killing the planet, I promised myself I’d eventually go vegan (I went vegetarian initially, and switched to vegan a month later).

Q. What’s the best part about being vegan?
A. I’ve found a new love for food, an amazing community, and my body thanks me everyday for the changes I’ve made to my diet + lifestyle (bye-bye stomach issues). But overall, I think the best part for me, personally, is that it feels amazing to finally align the morals I’ve always had with my actions. It may sound a little hokey but I feel much more at peace in my mind knowing that I am no longer contributing to animal suffering.

Q. What’s the purpose of this blog?
A. Besides just being passionate for all things vegan, BE 🅥EDGY was created for YOU in mind. I wanted to create a place for those who are veg-curious, already vegan or vegetarian, and everything in-between, to be able to celebrate mindful living, learn more about how to transition, become educated on what’s happening around us, etc. etc. etc.

Q. How do you pronounce “BE 🅥EDGY”?
A. Be-veggie.

Q. Tell us something we don’t know!
A. In the hours I’m not BE 🅥EDGY’ing or working, you might find me awkwardly cradling my two cats, scrolling through Instagram (probably searching for cat videos), or volunteering at The Alice Sanctuary. I enjoy travelling to new places, the smell of the forest, anything by Camp Brand Goods, sitting by the ocean and a solid to-do list.
